Ellen Guss, PhD
Dr. Ellen J. Guss is a Program Officer at the Coalition for Aligning Science (CAS), working within the Aligning Research to Impact Autism (ARIA) workstream. Dr. Guss is passionate about the ability of open science and collaborative research to improve human health.
Before joining CAS, Dr. Guss was the Scientific Programs Coordinator at Target ALS, the largest private funder of ALS research worldwide. In this role, Dr. Guss defined and executed preclinical research funding strategy, engaged with researchers and key opinion leaders, and generated scientific and donor communication materials.
Dr. Guss earned her PhD in Biology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her BA in Cellular Neuroscience from Colgate University. Her prior work experience includes basic and translational research in neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration, with a focus on Parkinson’s disease, autism, schizophrenia, and Zika virus-related microcephaly.
